Hello and welcome to the Body Holistic


My name is Stephen Forde, I’m a physical Therapist and Personal Trainer based in Stockport, Greater Manchester.

The therapy that I specialise in is An Mo - Tui Na (Traditional Chinese Bodywork). I also utilise Bowen Technique, when suitable. I often supplement my treatments by teaching some basic Dao Yin exercises for continued self managed recovery at home. Dao Yin is a form of Yoga that evolved in China over thousands of years.


I have over twenty five years experience in delivering physical therapy, over the decades I’ve explored a variety of western and eastern modalities including; Swedish Massage, Sports Massage, Bowen Technique and An Mo - Tui Na.


My treatment approach is directed to the whole body in all of its facets; muscular, skeletal, mental and hormonal. An Mo - Tui Na is  designed to bring your body back into physical balance, so you can move easily without pain with enhanced energy. Bowen Technique is similar, although more simple in approach. You can find a little more about Bowen Technique here. I usually integrate it within an AnMo session. This is possible because many of the techniques are interchangeable and much of the theoretical basis is the same.


I’m available for sessions in Cheadle, Stockport. I work standard office hours and some early evening and weekend appointments are also available. I can also offer some appointments in Heaton Moor, but room availability is less flexible.


My approach to personal training is the same as my approach to therapy. I don’t drag people around gyms, I work at your home, addressing all aspects of your lifestyle. I specialise in ‘reluctant athletes’. Many people think they are not able to get fit, can’t run, destined to be overweight and unhealthy. If that’s you, the good news is that 90% of fitness is in fact simple good health and that’s got more to do with diet and general movement, fitness and exercise is just the cherry on the cake, except there’s no cake! Well not too often anyway and just a small piece.
